Perspecta wins $155M VA technical support contract

March 28, 2019 by Loren Blinde

Perspecta Inc. of Chantilly, VA announced on March 27 that it was awarded a prime contract from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to continue providing maintenance and support for the Veterans Health Information Systems and Technology Architecture (VistA), the agency’s electronic health records (EHR) system. The follow-on contract has a one-year base and four, one-year options with a potential ceiling value of $155 million, if all options are exercised.

On the contract, Perspecta will provide a full range of technical, managerial and administrative services to the VA, in support of both the primary VistA and VistA Imaging systems. Services will include engineering support and engineering changes, updates, repairs and other technical services. Additionally, Perspecta will execute an expertise center that will be used to diagnose and troubleshoot complex issues by providing various maintenance and support services including: a call center help desk, infrastructure and technical performance management, systems performance monitoring, and hardware and software troubleshooting.

“Maintaining and supporting one of the most complex EHR systems in the world requires a broad range of capabilities and smart answers to multifaceted challenges,” said Mac Curtis, president and chief executive, Perspecta Inc. “We are proud of the successes we’ve had, and are excited to continue bringing our extensive experience and evolving innovation to our VA customer.”

VistA is a robust and sophisticated EHR system, designed and developed to support the expansive medical system supporting U.S. military veterans. VistA is an integrated database consisting of 180 applications for clinical, financial and administrative functions of more than 143 facilities across the United States, Puerto Rico and the Philippines. As a long term infrastructure partner to the VA, Perspecta has been maintaining and supporting the VistA system for more than 20 years.
